Homebirth as a Teenager

I had my first child when I was a teen. I wanted a homebirth so so badly. We just couldn’t make it happen at the time. When I got pregnant with my second I was SO SO happy to be able to finally have my homebirth.

Recently, I witnessed a strong teen mom give birth to her big baby boy at home. She exhibited all the strength and determination that I see with any other mother. The strength I see from mothers takes my breath away.

After days of prodromal labor her birthing time had finally began. After a few hours of early labor things started to intensify around 1am and I got to her at 2am. She moved from the bed to the toilet to the pool, back to the bed to the toilet to the pool some more. As the sun rose baby got closer and closer. Mom continued to labor in the pool and started pushing around 10am. Around 10:36 shoulder dystotia was caught and mom was moved from the pool to the bed. Baby was born at 10:38 safely at home.
