How much support does a birthing person need? The answer... infinite amounts.

I am here to provide unbiased informational, physical, and emotional support throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum period.

The day a person gives birth will stick with them for the rest of their life. It will define them. As a doula, my goal is to make sure the family is fully comfortable, educated and supported during the most vulnerable and impactful time of their life. I want to make sure that even if things don't go exactly to plan, they still feel empowered by the end of the experience.

I spend many hours before a birth making sure I know the best ways to support the birthing person and the rest of their birth team. On top of all the hours I spend with the family during pregnancy, I will spend countless hours at the birth. I have spent anywhere from a few hours at a birth to a few days.

I don't care what kind of birth you want to have, I care that you know your options and you feel supported every step of the way. I care that you feel like the total bad-ass that you are after giving birth.

“I can’t recommend Ariel enough! We were on the fence about hiring a doula for my second birth, but eventually decided to go for it. I am so glad we did! Ariel did a wonderful job listening to my birth wishes and addressing my fears throughout pregnancy. When the day finally came she knew exactly what I needed during labor and gave my husband lots of tips so he could be equally involved. Everything went perfectly, and we couldn’t believe how beautiful our birth photos were! You really can’t go wrong hiring her for any birth services.”

Doula Services FAQ

  • Doula is a Greek word literally meaning "servant." As your doula, I will be there to physically and emotionally support you, educate you, encourage you, and advocate for you throughout your pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period. Each client wants something different for their birth, so you define my role as your doula.

  • A midwife comes to your birth as a medical professional. They are trained to support, but their main job is to monitor mom and baby during labor and provide immediate postpartum care. A doula may be trained in clinical tasks such as monitor heart-rate, blood pressure, or cervical checks, but they are there solely to provide a high level of support for mom and her birth partner.

  • Your partner knows you, and I know birth. As someone who has seen hundreds of births, a doula knows the ins and outs much better than someone who hasn’t seen it all. A doula is trained to help laboring mothers and their partners. Partners need support as well. If the partner needs to leave the room to go to the bathroom, or make a call, a doula will ensure the mom is not left alone.

  • If your partner has to leave the room for whatever reason, they don't have to worry that you are alone ever. Not everything is left for the partner to take care of either. If you want to hold someone's hand and get a massage, there will be two support persons to make that possible for you. If you want your partner by your side the whole time, I can get you water or ice chips or tend to other tasks while they stay with you.

  • This is actually really common. Many partners feel more comfortable after a meet and greet where they can get all of their questions and concerns addressed. Free, no-obligation consultations are offered for this reason. It is also very important for you and your partner to feel 100% comfortable with the doula you are hiring, so I suggest having consultations with multiple doulas before deciding.

  • Yes!!! A doula supports all different types of birth experiences. I can help with different positioning to help baby descend quicker, I can grab water for you, take pictures, and still be a big emotional and informational support for you. Your need for support does not diminish just because you have a medicated birth!

  • As with many other parts of birth, it is unpredictable. In most cases I will have already been supporting you throughout your labor and will continue to support you through a surgical birth. If I am allowed back to the OR, I will go back, but if not I will be waiting for you the minute you get out to help support you with staying comfortable, breastfeeding, and continuing to answer any questions you may have.

  • After baby is born, I will assist you in breastfeeding and make sure your breastfeeding relationship is off to a good start, making sure you are comfortable, feed you snacks, and help you adjust before leaving. About two weeks after your birth, I will check in on you and make sure you are doing well in your transition and answer any questions you may have.

  • I offer flexible payment plans to everyone. It is a large investment, but it is also an important one. I don't want price to be the main reason why you can't hire a doula!
