The Birth of Baby Atlus- A Colorado Springs Hospital Birth
Elissa and I met on June first last year. I had recently attended the birth of one of her friend’s daughters. She was looking for a doula and birth photographer. She decided to go with a different birth photographer, but she chose me as her doula.
She texted at 4:37am on September 28th to let me know she was in labor. At 6:45 she let me know they were going to head to the hospital as things were picking up so I got everything ready and head that way. At 7:36 her husband let me know they were in check in but she was 3-4cm and completely effaced. I headed into the hospital a few minutes later. When I got in she was bouncing on a birth ball doing amazing through all her contractions and waiting to get into an actual labor room. About 30 minutes after I got there, we transferred to a new room. We got all settled in and Elissa continued to labor. Her husband and I working together to provide her with comfort. We walked the halls and kept moving around the labor room. I kept communications with the photographer to keep her updated. At 11:37 am Elissa got checked and was dilated 6 and -1 station. At 12 her photographer got to the hospital too. At 3:05pm baby Atlus was born into the world surrounded by amazing support. The nurses at the hospital were absolutely amazing and supportive of all of the family's wishes. It was the exact way I love hospital births to be.
